"...but it's not a complex response because it's not a complex thing - it's just wonderful." - Tavi Gevinson's response when asked what it feels like to be on Broadway, interviewed on CBS Sunday Morning.
I am going to hear Tavi Gevinson speak on Tuesday night next week on the University of Wisconsin campus and I can't wait. Tavi has midwestern roots and at only 18-years-old she is a fashion maven, editor-in-chief of Rookie, and actress who has caught the attention of influential people like Vogue's Anna Wintor (Anna in fact had Tavi flown to NYC Fashion Week!)
Tavi started a blog called Style Rookie when she was eleven (!) and she created Rookie Magazine soon after, an online magazine for teenage girls. Tavi's fame has been quick. She has starred in several movies, just wrapped up performing in a leading role on Broadway, made an appearance on The Tonight Show, has been interviewed by Vanity Fair, Nylon, and countless other blogs and magazines all before continuing too follow her academic pursuits as a freshman at NYU next year.
I am so impressed by Tavi and I think what I find most impressive is her very natural penchant to beat to her own drummer from a very young age, her intelligence, and the role model she is to many girls out there. Way to go Tavi for being such a Mod Girl! Here's an cute, quirky interview Alexa Chung did with Tavi for British Vogue:
